“Where?” She raised a skeptical brow.
“It’s a surprise.” I winked at her. “I’m, uh, gonna go take a cold shower. You’re welcome to use the one in the guest bedroom if you want.” I grabbed some clothes and made my way to the en suite closing the door behind me. I needed to get myself under control.
Turning the water on and stripping off my clothes, I got into the marble shower. Even with all the multiple shower heads blasting my body at once, my mind couldn’t help but wander back to that first night. Maybe we didn’t have to have sex. We could still fool around right? Stop thinking with your dick, asshole. Speaking of my dick nothing short of a quick orgasm was going to get it to go down at this point. Those sexy sapphire eyes and plump lips flashed in my mind and my hand traveled south. I imagined the girl that was somewhere nearby kneeling in front of me, the water from the shower sluicing in rivulets down her naked beautiful body as she opened her mouth and swallowed me down. I never even heard the door open I was so caught up in the fantasy.
Brandy licked me up and down brought her hands up to massage my balls. My hand slid back and forth along my cock as I imagined every dirty thing my innocent girl did with her mouth until I was coming all over the marble shower. A quiet gasp caught my attention and I looked over at a very naked very wide-eyed Brandy. “What?” I asked but never got the rest of the question out before she was opening the shower door and climbing in herself. She was still looking down at my hand that held my rock-hard cock. Holy shit this girl was trying to kill me. The water beat down on her overheated skin. She looked even more beautiful than in my imagination. “What are you doing, babe?”
“I don’t know. I just know how much I want you.” Her lips came up kissing my collarbone.
“I’m not gonna fuck you, Brandy.” I needed to drill that point across. She needed to know to trust that I could control myself.
“I know,” she whispered. “But there are other things we can do.” Her hand trailed down my chest over my abs and straight for my cock. I let go of it and watched as her tiny hand slid over the silky flesh. Jesus. Fuck.
“Widen your stance,” I growled and immediately she spread her legs. I paid special attention to her breasts as she slowly stroked me. I’d never felt anything like it. She was fucking perfect.
Sliding my hand down her flat belly, I pressed a finger to her clit and watched as her head fell back and a tiny whimper left her. Holy God if that wasn’t the sweetest sound I’d ever heard. “Do you know what I was thinking about when I was stroking my cock?” I whispered close to her ear slipping a finger inside of her. I pumped in and out of her leisurely. “I was thinking of that pretty mouth on me sucking me into your throat.”
Her answering moan had me pumping harder and faster bringing my thumb to that little bundle of nerves that had her squirming and pumping faster. I’d literally just come, but she already had my balls tightening ready to blow again. The closer I got the faster and harder I pumped until I crashed my lips down to hers muffling her cries of pleasure and mine. Her legs were boneless and I snaked an arm around her waist to hold her up.
“Oh God,” she cried out. “That was…”
I watched her for a bad reaction. Waiting with bated breath to see how she would react. “That was…?” I prodded.
“Fucking incredible.” She smiled a brilliant smile and I blew out a relieved breath glad that she wasn’t freaking out this time. I still felt guilty about this though. It hadn’t been my intention but when she walked in completely naked something in me snapped. I couldn’t stop myself if I tried.
“You’re sure you’re okay?” I wasn’t entirely sure I believed her, but I didn’t want to remind her of everything that was weighing her down.
“Mmm, yes, I’m perfect.” She had both hands on my chest as she looked up at me with satisfied eyes.
“Good, we have to get showered, or we’re going to be late.” I kissed her softly then smacked her ass before grabbing the body wash and rubbing my hands together. I started at her shoulders methodically washing her body and then moving to her hair. I’d never done anything like this before but it just felt right. After we rinsed her hair, she held out her hand and I looked at her with a cocked brow.
“My turn.” Her flirty tone caused my grin to grow.
“No, babe, if you touch me all over washing me there’s no way we’ll get out of here.” I turned off the water grabbing a towel and wrapping it around her body. It killed me to cover that fucking beautiful body, but I was trying here. My libido needed to take a backseat to her needs. There would be time for that later. I would make sure of it.
Chapter Eighteen
Brandy
Pete took me to the cutest little fifties style diner. All the booths had the retro feel and the counter had bar stools covered in red vinyl. The floor looked like a checkerboard and I loved it instantly. “Favorite breakfast food?”
“I don’t usually eat breakfast,” I shrugged.
“Oh, come on, there has to be something,” Pete pressed.
“I guess pancakes.” I hardly ever had them but I did love them. I had zero cooking skills.
“Pancakes, good to know,” Pete nodded thoughtfully.
“You only have six left,” I grinned.
“No way, un uh. That wasn’t one of my questions.” He shook his head as if exasperated. I giggled a little looking down at the menu. I never saw the paper from his straw flying at me until it smacked me in the forehead.
“What was that?” I’d never seen someone do that before. “Did you throw that at me?”
“You’ve never seen someone blow the paper off their straw before?” Pete’s brows scrunched down like that was ridiculous. “Here. Tear the end of your paper off.” He took the straw from me tearing the end off and then pulling it out a little. “Now hold on to the straw and blow.”
I took the straw from him being careful not to hold the paper and blew into the straw. The paper flew right at him and over his head on the table behind him. The man at the table grabbed the offending paper shaking his head like he was dealing with unruly teenagers. “Sorry,” I giggled. The man smiled handing the paper to Pete and it was like the dam burst. Loud laughter erupted from both of us. “Oh my God, that was hilarious.” I gasped between breaths.
“It was,” he wheezed. “Let’s not do it again though. I don’t want to piss anyone off.”
“Is the big scary MMA fighter afraid?” I taunted.
“Not at all, but if I get in any more trouble Darren’s gonna kick me off the team and I have a feeling you’re gonna get me in a whole lot of it if I let you.” He grinned but I could tell it was one of his fake plastic smiles. He really was worried about his career. It made me feel bad because one of those incidents was my fault.
I’d gone to help a client at what I thought was a strip club. Come to find out he didn’t need help and it was a sex club not a strip club. Pete had followed me in the same reindeer costume he’d been wearing for the kids at the children’s hospital. Let’s just say the whole thing ended in a fake relationship for the press and six months of avoiding each other. Well, six months of me avoiding any situation that might put us in the same room together.
“Hey, trouble?” He grinned. “What’s on your mind?”
“Did you just call me trouble?” I laughed.
“Yes, it fits. You’re always getting me into trouble.”
“Hey now, I didn’t tell you to follow me to that club in the damn reindeer costume.”
“No, you didn’t but what would have happened if I hadn’t been there, trouble?” He raised a skeptical brow at me.
“I may have gone into a room with an ex-patient and his boyfriend.” I shrugged lying through my teeth. The growl that left Pete’s throat caused another giggling fit. “Jealous?”
“Not at all. I think things worked out exactly how they were supposed to.” I blushed at his words the morning activities going in a loop inside my brain. I still had no idea where the sudden burst of confiden
ce had come from. Pete chuckled the bastard probably knew exactly where my thoughts had wandered to.
“So, what’s this surprise you have planned?” I asked in dire need of a subject change.
“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you.”
“You’re really not going to tell me?” I pouted.
“Nope.” He popped the “p” at the end most likely pleased with himself. I hated surprises. It was probably from all the damn “surprises” as a kid. My whole life was one big fat surprise and not one of them was ever good. Shit, Brandy, shut that shit down. Don’t think about it.
Pete never missed a beat. His eyebrows furrowed and I thought for sure he’d ask what was on my mind but in that moment the waitress brought our food out.
Food seemed to halt any further questioning, and I was thanking God for small favors. We ate in silence and when I felt like I’d stuffed my face so much that I couldn’t stand it, Pete threw a wad of bills on the table and pulled me up out of my seat. “C’mon, let’s go.”
“I hope wherever we’re going doesn’t require a lot of walking because I can’t.” I groaned. Pete chuckled. He pulled me from the restaurant and to a waiting car. “You had this all planned out, didn’t you?”
“Maybe.” He grinned like a little kid.
Chapter Nineteen
Pete
It was something I hadn’t done in years and I have no idea why I thought about it that morning. I just knew I wasn’t ready to let her go yet. I guess I was worried that if I let her go home then she would change her mind about us.
The car took us to the strip where we waited for the luxury bus that would take us out to the dam. It probably wasn’t the most romantic trip, but I would bet money on it that she’d never been before. She kept giving me strange glances as the bus pulled up and I led her to the doors.
“Where are we going?” she asked with a scrunched-up nose. It was fucking adorable. I kissed her nose and a shy smile lit up her face.
“You’re going to find out soon enough, so I may as well tell you,” I grinned drawing it out as much as possible.
“You’re killing me.”
“Okay, have you ever been to Hoover Dam?” Her eyes lit up as she shook her head no. “We’re gonna take a day tour.”
“Really? I’ve wanted to go there since I moved out here, but never got around to it.” She looked excited and I breathed out a sigh of relief. Brandy wasn’t like most girls. I had been taking a big risk taking her to the dam instead of the spa or something equally annoying. I was glad that I’d judged correctly.
We spent the forty-five-minute drive watching the desert pass by. Brandy bounced a little in her seat as the dam came into view. “Wow,” she breathed.
“It’s pretty incredible, right?” I bumped her shoulder. Her smile was radiant.
“It really is.” She started pushing at my arm as the bus came to a stop.
“Seriously, I’m going,” I chuckled. Getting out of the seat, I moved, so she could move in front of me and placed my hand on the small of her back.
We got off the bus on the top of the dam where they normally started the tours. Walking across was one of the best parts because there was a line in the middle of the dam that crossed between Nevada and Arizona. Where you could literally be in two places at once. “C’mon, I wanna show you my favorite place.” I grabbed her around the waist, and we made our way to the center of the dam.
Brandy looked a little confused when I stopped and held my arms out. “It’s just the middle of the dam. I don’t get it.”
“You are now in Arizona.” I grinned at her. I kissed her softly. “And, I’m in Nevada.”
Brandy looked down at her feet and saw the line between us. “That is fantastic.”
“So, I can kiss you while you’re technically in a whole different state.” I pulled her close kissing her again. She opened to me immediately and I deepened the kiss. A throat clearing nearby had me pulling away. I rested my head against hers. “We’ll pick that back up later.”
Brandy giggled as she stepped one foot over the line separating Nevada and Arizona. “I’m in two places at once.” Her eyes sparkled reminding me of the earrings I’d bought her for Christmas. They matched her eyes perfectly. I was reminded of the conversation we’d had the night before. I hadn’t realized until I’d asked how desperately I needed the answer.
Even though the answer was pretty close to what I’d expected, I was happy to hear that she’d been feeling the same way as I had even though she’d convinced herself that it wasn’t possible. I needed to prove her wrong, and I was hoping that this would be a small step on the way to showing her exactly what I felt about her. “C’mon, we have to meet our tour.” I grinned at her.
“This is incredible, Pete. Thank you.” Grabbing her hand, I led her over to the visitor center where we would be meeting our tour guide.
The tour of the dam never got old, but I think my favorite part had been watching Brandy’s reactions to everything. We went into the screening room first where we watched a short video about the construction before we made our way underground. That was where the real fun was to be had. I squeezed Brandy’s hand as she moved in closer to me not even really understanding why until she turned her terrified gaze on me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked furrowing my brow. I thought this was something she’d enjoy. I never thought it would scare her.
“Nothing, I’m f-fine,” she stuttered. Cursing, I turned her head to face me.
“Hey, you are definitely not fine. Talk to me, babe,” I growled close to her face. My eyes never left hers as I waited for an answer.
“C-Claustrophobic.” Shit well, that was a major dick move. “I’m fine let’s keep going.”
“Are you sure? We can turn around and go back right now.” I brushed some hair away from her eyes, smiling reassuringly.
“I’m sure.” She let out a big breath. I wasn’t positive she was telling the truth but I wasn’t going to make her leave if she thought she could handle it. I’d just have to keep an eye on her.
Chapter Twenty
Brandy
As the elevator doors closed blocking us in with the other tourists, my hands became clammy and my breathing was erratic.
“Mom, no. Please. I won’t go outside again. I promise. Please don’t lock me in there again.” It was no use. She was going out for supplies and refused to let me roam the house on my own. She said it was for my own good, but ever since I turned thirteen, she’d been increasingly more agitated. It was impossible to know what was going on in that head of hers. She’d been locking me in the closet when she left for as long as I could remember, but she’d become more paranoid as I got older always convinced that someone would see me through the boarded-up windows and take me away. I had no idea why she thought that way.
“Don’t argue with me, Brandy. You know what happens when you argue.” Her eyes were wild as she grabbed my biceps squeezing hard enough to make me cry out effectively cutting off any further arguments. “Get in the damn closet.”
“Okay, fine, just please let go.” I cowered next to her as she practically dragged me to the closet and thrust me inside the dark. Stumbling I braced against the back wall for support. The door closed cutting off any light and I curled up in the dark rocking back and forth.
“Brandy?” Pete was shaking me as I stood in the long narrow hallway leading to the generators. The memory had torn through me so fast and hard that I hadn’t even realized it. It was so real. I had to look around just to be sure that I wasn’t in that damned farmhouse. Pete’s eyes bored into mine. Closing my eyes, I tried to regulate my breathing but I just couldn’t catch my breath. “Hey, you’re okay. Nothing is gonna hurt you. I promise. I’ve got you, okay?”
I nodded because I still couldn’t form words around my shaky breath. The tour guide came over looking concerned. “I’m gonna take her back up. I didn’t realize she was claustrophobic.” He pulled me close and rubbed a soothing hand over my back. His t
ouch alone had already started to calm me, but I still needed out. I needed to see the sky just so I knew I wasn’t back there in that damn house locked in the closet for hours on end. The guide nodded her head and pointed the direction we’d come. “Shhh, it’s okay. You’re gonna be fine.” He kept mumbling soothing words into my ear as he led me to the elevator.
The ride in the elevator didn’t do much to calm my nerves. We were deep underground and every wrong movement made me jump. “Hey, I’m sorry. I had no idea that would happen.” He pulled me to his chest. I breathed in his sandalwood scent that had an instant calming effect on me. You’re safe. Pete isn’t going to let anything happen to you. That life is gone. I replayed the words in my head over and over again as the elevator ascended to the top.
After long minutes the elevator stopped but the doors didn’t open. I waited but when I looked at the display it was obvious that we weren’t to the ground floor yet. An alarm sounded scaring me even more. Shit. We’re stuck. Panic crept back in and I could feel the panic attack resurfacing.
“Hey, it’s all right. Don’t freak out. I’m going to grab the phone and see if they can get us moving again.” Pete tried to pull away but my fingers clawed at the shirt he was wearing in a panic. “Okay, okay, walk with me then.” His hand came up and stroked my cheek. I moved the two feet with him where he grabbed the emergency phone off the handle and held it to his ear.
“Is there any way to get this thing moving again?” he asked listening for an answer. “You need to hurry. My girlfriend is having a panic attack. I need to get her above ground like yesterday.”
Pete hung up the phone and the alarm that had been blaring in my ears only increasing my sense of urgency shut off and left the small compartment blessedly silent. “Talk to me, babe.”
“I-I c-can’t,” I stuttered between gasps for air.
“Yes, you can. Tell me something. It can be anything.” I glared at him pulling away to pace the elevator. White spots were starting to cloud my vision. I knew that I needed to calm down, or I was going to pass out. I couldn’t do that. My hands started to cramp and I flexed my fingers to try to get the blood circulating again.
